Before Santi White was Santogold, then Santigold, the teeny tiny genre-hopper on Jay Z’s label Roc Nation was a protégé of hardcore founders Bad Brains and had her own punk band called Stiffed. You’d be interested to note that the aforementioned hardcore pioneer’s bassist, Daryl Jenifer, produced her 2008 self-titled solo debut and since then Santi has gone on to pen tracks for Christina Aguilera and work with Beyonce.
