Oscar - Sometimes

We first posted about Oscar a couple of months ago when a song called Open Up appeared on the internet. For those that missed it, Oscar is a fairly new musician from London who makes unfussy, uncomplicated bedroom guitar pop.

Admittedly, that description might not make Oscar's music sound like a particularly original proposition, but there is something in his music that makes it worth returning to. It might just be because the hooks are criminally catchy, but it's also down to the way that he writes and performs his songs that sets him apart from his peers – musically, Sometimes is kind of like a song by Blur or the Dandy Warhols or even the Super Furry Animals, but its vocal delivery sounds almost like something by Hannah Diamond (albeit a couple of octaves lower).

Anyway, don't just take our word for it – there's a new video for the song, directed by Jesse John Jenkins, that's watchable above. The song is taken from his new EP, '146b', released through Smalltown Supersound sublabel Brown Rice earlier this month.

Brown Rice released '146b' on May 4th 2014 (buy).
