The Golden Filter make a comeback on Optimo Music with "music for nightclubs and beyond..."
The Golden Filter hold a special place in Dummy's heart. Made up of members Penelope and Stephen, the duo have a bright and interesting output - releasing Solid Gold on Dummy Records back in 2009, the first single on the label.
Since then they've kept quietly busy, spending most of last year releasing the 'Unselected Works' trilogy. The pair had somewhat of a comeback this September, debuting on Optimo Music with a new EP named 'PSII03'. An electronic led four-tracker, it's a hypnotising release that's sure to give listeners an insatiable appetite for the dancefloor; with tracks ranging from the 'hypno-power' of angelic vocally layered techno stomper Start Over, the oscillating whir of Breakdown, the metallic urgency of Drowned and the ethereal electro-house ending of Lapool.
Ending the year with a bang, The Golden Filter shared the video for Start Over exclusively with Dummy. Echoing the intensity of the track, the video starts with flickers of coloured light before giving way to relentless flashes of ambiguous club scenes layered by brief appearances from Penelope, drawing us in by layering up with her mysterious vocals.
In Optimo's own words: "We are very happy to welcome The Golden Filter to Optimo Music. In fact we loved all the tracks they sent us so much that as well as a 4-track EP, they are sharing an EP release on Optimo Trax too. Penelope and Stephen originally hail from opposite sides of the planet (Australia and America) but have united to create a distinctly unique electronic sound. Following several previous releases, their sound has progressed into a deeper, richer, advanced hypno-sound with state of the art synthetic sound design and vocal phrases ricocheting around the mix. It's hard to pull off tracks that constantly morph and develop over the course of a few minutes but The Golden Filter accomplish this with seeming ease on the "PS1103" EP. Music for nightclubs and far beyond…."
