Teddy Music (ft. Ruff Sqwad, Ghetts, Roachee & Stutta) - Hoods Up

Teddy Music approaches grime with a maximalist zeal. Hoods Up is a tearing mix of merciless drums and bass thumps that build the pressure right up and then leave it to plummet unexpectedly. That the chorus is built around a sample of a chant by professional shouter Lil’ Jon tells you a little about what to expect from the track.

The vocal line-up is top notch too, with features from the great Ruff Sqwad, Ghetts, ex- Roll Deep man Roachee and Stutta. The MCs take the blistering riddim head on but there is also something reminiscent of the hey-days of garage in it – most notably in Stutta’s fantastic and effortless bust-a-skank-to-this verse.
