Premiere: The Soft Moon - Deeper
With the latest video for The Soft Moon's Deeper, New York-based artist Kelsey Henderson explained that she wanted to recontextualise bondage imagery and its wider associations in society. "I created a homemade snuff-like video made using a VHS camera & a Barbie Video Girl Doll," Henderson says. "I wanted to pull away from its sexual hackneyed state and instead explore such acts from another vantage point: torture as a fetish or for pleasure. And how it feels to be a voyeur of such acts.”
With that aim in mind, Henderson's clip renders a dark and blurry trip into the city at night, capturing footage of actors as they're subjected to a series of rituals that cover torment and submission. Not for the light-hearted by any definition, it's a fitting visual expression of the twisted and macabre mood that The Soft Moon perfected on the latest album that the track takes its name from.
