Outfit - Performance

Liverpudlian group Outfit have put out a handful of singles and EPs over the past couple of years that specialise in a brand of post-punk that takes in Kompakt-esque electronics and a customary dose of introversion, but the past couple of weeks have seen them particularly busy. With a debut album currently in the mastering process, Outfit have been uploading new (and very promising) demos to Youtube every few days, only to delete them a couple of hours later. But one thing that’s a little less ephemeral is the new video for the album’s title track, Performance. The video was directed by wunderkind Isaac Eastgate, who was chosen following a competition to find a director to tie in with The Art Of Pop Video exhibition at FACT (that’s the Liverpool-based Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, not the music magazine), and it’s as stunning to watch as the song is to hear.
