Nite Jewel live at SXSW 2012

“That clink-clinking you can hear is my whiskey bottle on the mic,” drawled LA’s Ramona Gonzalez aka Nite Jewel with a smile. The sun had gone down by the time she and her band got on stage at the Ad Hoc and True Panther party on the outside stage of Cheer Up Charlie’s in Austin. The band were super tight, Gonzalez was on point and in a party mood, and the night air was sweet. Memory Man from Nite Jewel’s wonderful new album ‘One Second Of Love’, shakily shot on my phone above, was just one of the highlights in her warm-glow-inducing set. Nite Jewel’s got the funk.
