The Montreal singer Mozart’s Sister, real name Caila Thompson-Hannant, has now got a new video for her ‘Hello’ EP’s opening number, the self-titled Mozart’s Sister. There’s a lot of dejection in the song – the idea of being eternally resigned to being number two, as Mozart’s talented sister was compared to her more famous older sibling – and it’s captured in the video too. The colours are bright but the light’s slightly drained, and the relative lo-fidelity of it (a few locations, some red light bulbs) make it seem like the crew really did turn up for the shoot only to find their budget slashed and the money re-directed to a more famous musician. Maybe we’re just reading too much into this, though.
