Lana del Rey is from Lake Placid, the outer edges of New York State, and she makes romantic, tear-inducing music that leaves you aching. Commenting on how the city fermented her musical taste, she said, “It has an epic, nostalgic feel. It’s in the middle of a National Park that is six hours from New York City. But it’s also a struggle because it’s a town built on tourism that no-one goes to anymore.”

Inspired by David Lynch, soundtracks for 50s black and white movies, and Coney Island’s whirring ferris wheel, Lana del Rey put together Video Games using clips taken from old movies, video games and Youtube footage, the perfect accompaniment to her vacant, pained singing about looking for love and drinking beer. When Lana sings it, it sounds impossibly romantic. And whatever it is, this is it.
