Kendrick Lamar - Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe
In case it wasn’t clear from the white rose being thrown onto the white coffin by the woman in the white dress with the white fingernails, Kendrick Lamar makes obvious at the end of his newest music video that the funeral being shown is, resolutely, a metaphor. As the final strains of his album stand-out track Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe bleed out, the Compton rapper announces “Death To Molly” on a black screen, leaving very little room for doubt over what he means when he sings “I can feel your energy from two planets away / I got my drink I got my music / I would share it but today I’m yelling / Bitch don’t kill my vibe”. Despite the fact that this message could have come over a little heavy-handed, this clip has all the hallmark touches of lightness and insight that Kendrick brings to his work – as well as a touch of liquor-based baptism – and leaves a grin on your face.
