Kendrick Lamar’s debut LP ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ is rooted in a palpable sense of place and time, and this monochrome visual for Backseat Freestyle doesn’t break the mould. With cameos from Sherane and the Lamar paterfamilias, the video sweeps through a familiar landscape of in-jokes and references that build Lamar’s world, including shots of the Compton rapper performing in front of the Eiffel Tower and plenty of straight-faced LOL moments.
