Justin Timberlake - Mirrors

Here’s the video for Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors, which was worthy of our song of the week when we first heard it last month. Directed by Floria Sigismondi (who recently gave us that ace Bowie video for The Stars (Are Out Tonight), it’s a love story paying tribute to JT’s grandfolks William and Sadie. We see them young and old, happy and in the midst of crisis – and even displaying their undying love by partaking in some weird synchronised clothes-folding early on. The whole thing could go pretty faux-The Notebook very quickly, but Sigismondi’s non-linear and temporal-twisting direction keeps things flowing (just excuse the groan-inducing shot of a sparkling Swarovski logo on their wedding ring box). Then, with a few minutes left on the clock, JT ends up in exactly the place you might have guessed for a track called Mirrors. He throws some good moves, mind.
