Julianna Barwick - Forever

Julianna Barwick re-located to Iceland to make her latest album with Sigur Rós producer Alex Somers and the result, ‘Nepenthe’, is described as an intimate and visceral interpretation of her new landscape. Named for the medicine “which chases away sorrow” in Ancient Greek mythology, the recording process was marked by isolation and grief but also her excitement of being in a brand new, strange place. As well as Somers she worked alongside local artists including string ensemble Amiina, múm guitarist Róbert Sturla Reynisson and a girls choir – whose contributions were filmed as part of this teaser video soundtracked by the album track Forever. Below are details of the album and Barwick’s upcoming UK tour dates.
