Julia Holter’s follow-up to last year’s glistening ‘Ekstastis’ has been announced: it’s called ‘Loud City Song’ and it’ll be on Domino in August. The first taste of her third album comes with World, a tightrope walk of a track that builds tentatively around Julia’s wafer-thin vocal line, which is answered throughout by piano and strings. For all the sparseness in the instrumentation, as the title suggests Julia takes in all manner of things the world over – including hats, mothers, misters and cities – before ending chillingly with the line: “How can I escape you?”. Beguiling, as ever.

Domino will release ‘Loud City Song’ on the 19th August.
