Fatima Al Qadiri - Ghost Raid

When she spoke to Dummy about the making of her conceptual ‘Desert Strike’ EP last year, Fatima Al Qadiri said that the EP opener Ghost Raid was the track which she hoped would make her listener “feel like they were being bombarded.”

Straining the harsh surges and crashes of war through the technicolour sound palette of a video game, the track has that exact effect, and this new video from MOCAtv and Fade to Mind expands on that dark and overwhelming vibe perfectly. With everything from the sneeringly cartoonish title that flashes up at the beginning to the too-bright green flashes that zip haphazardly through the chaos, the visual onslaught encapsulates everything that was so disjointed and so tragic about the EP’s source material – a video game that was based an aerial attack that Fatima actually lived through.
