Dummy TV & Tradiio present Coming Up: Sinkane
We're happy to present the fifth of our Coming Up films, made in partnership with Tradiio. Coming Up is a series of short films and sessions focusing on new and ascending artists.
Ahmed Gallab, better know as Sinkane, is a musician from the US with Sudanese heritage. He worked as a session musician and touring band member for the likes of Caribou, of Montreal, and Yeasayer prior to launching a solo career that blends elements of funk, soul, jazz, and even country music with the styles and rhythms of Sudanese pop and dance music. For this film, Sinkane performs Mean Love, the title track of his latest album for DFA Records/City Slang.
There are two versions of this film: the first, which you can watch above, is a pure performance from Sinkane and his band. The second features an interview with Sinkane and can be watched at Tradiio's YouTube channel.
