Desire - Tears From Heaven

One of the great things about Italians Do It Better is that they have no press infrastructure or PR team behind them. It means that they aren’t slaves to schedules, label issues, current trends, concentrated hype campaigns or anything else that delays or commodifies their work. When a record is done, it’s done – Chromatics’ second album was announced and released on iTunes the second they got the masters back, for example. The downside of this is that when you’re looking forward to something from them, you’re never quite sure when it’ll come out. ‘After Dark 2’, the label’s follow-up to their 2007 breakthrough compilation ‘After Dark’, has been due for release for a while now, but we can only vaguely say that it’ll be out ‘soon’.

It does seem to be edging closer and closer, however. Today, long-time collaborative filmmaker Alberto Rossini has uploaded a new cut from Desire named Tears From Heaven. The song, along with the rest of the compilation, is produced by Johnny Jewel (who just this week we chronicled in ten easy steps) and is as gorgeous, poppy and full of lonely undercurrents as you’d expect.

Italians Do It Better will release ‘After Dark 2’ soon.
