Death Grips - True Vulture

It’s a Thursday afternoon, I’m sat by a laptop with a cup of tea and I’m quite comfortable. The Museum of Contemporary Art in LA has shared an animation for True Vulture, a new one from nutso rap outfit Death Grips, and I click the link to watch it. Three and a half minutes later, I don’t know what the fuck is going on.

Directed and animated by Galen Pehrson, the video is rough, unnerving and in-your-face, yet compelling and, in its own way, beautiful. It’s as fine a compliment to the group’s sound as you’d expect, then. “You know what Nieztsche said – stare at the abyss long enough and it’s gonna stare back at you.”
