Cory Jreamz - Howl

It's impossible to compare Cory Jreamz, from Houston, to anyone else in the rap game right now, and he shows precisely why with his raw new song Howl. Taken from his forthcoming album 'The Lonely Painter', the track is peppered with poignant one-liners, spat with vitriol, and weaves references to Ernest Hemingway and the MoMA into its bewildering tapestry (not to mention the track name's reference to Allen Ginsberg's iconic poem).

The music features eastern style instruments in the background whilst a distorted beat delivers massive fuzzy kicks and huge watery snares that ripple against everything else, creating a veritable cacophony. But it works, serving as a stormy canvas on which Jreamz drops his stark lyrics. The video – strange, bleak, disorienting – suits this alternative rapper's style down to the ground; watch it above.
