Chronik - Deepest Darkest

Chronik, a grime MC you could describe as being like Tempa T’s calmer, gruffer and more sinister older brother, brazenly goes against good taste and cultural sensitivity for the video to Deepest Darkest.

Blurring the voyeuristic sensationalism of Vice’s foreign reports (it’s hosted by their music site Noisey) with the early days of 24 hour news “saturation coverage”, Chronik plays the leader of a Slew Dem Rebel Army who have staged a coup in the fictional African state The Democratic Republic of Uduno sometime in the late 20th century. Striking and fun but also hopelessly shallow, the most interesting thing about the song is probably the fact it’s produced by Keyboard Kid, best known for helping to shape a significant chunk of Lil B’s very based and positive output.
