Chromatics - Looking for Love

Italians Do It Better are gearing up to release their ‘After Dark II’ compilation, featuring contributions of brand new material from the likes of Desire, Glass Candy and Chromatics. Originally announced as a 15th October release, the album has since been pushed back, and there is as yet no official word from the enigmatic label as to when the five-years-in-the-works compilation will materialise.

Instead, what we have to listen to is Oregon-based Chromatics’ yearning tune Looking for Love, the first original cut of theirs to be shared from the record. Edited down from the 17-minute original, the song struts along at a disco-infused pace, all siren vocals and the clamourous buzz of synths. Set to clips gathered from Chanel’s ‘Pret-A-Porter Printemps-Ete’ 2013 Paris runway show by the label’s in-house director Alberto Rossini, the taster is all fur coat and no knickers. Despite the song’s overtly emotional subject matter, this video encases itself deeply in all the pomp and swagger of high fashion and pop culture, holding its cards close to its chest. It’s fitting, then, to hear that the album is apparently also being released as a glittery gold vinyl. When it is released, that is.

Italians Do It Better will release ‘After Dark II’ at a unspecified point in the future.
