Buddy - Awesome Awesome

Simmie Sims, better known as Buddy, the latest artist to sign for Pharrell’s new ‘I Am Other’ imprint saw the video for his new single Awesome Awesome get a global release on Thursday.

Another in the long line of rappers from Compton, LA, this wiry 18-year-old benefits from a heavy Neptunes production and demonstrates some clean, uncomplicated flow. Chock full of references to, wait for it… clothes, cars, money and women, there’s certainly room for him to grow lyrically.

Pharrell, as usual, makes sitting about in the background playing with his phone, look like the dopest activity known to man. Other classic hip-hop video entertainment includes Buddy shoplifting, Buddy skateboarding and Buddy hosting a sunny garden party, where some girls have a wrestle.
