Bat For Lashes - Lillies

A Wall, the last video lifted from the third Bat For Lashes album ‘The Haunted Man’, saw Natasha Khan in a blonde wig attending a party accompanied by a boy dressed like a white gorilla. Her latest video is directed by Peter Sluszka – who, among other credits, collaborated with Michel Gondry on Bjork’s Crystalline. During the bursting, bountiful choruses of Lillies, Natasha is joined by a group of cuddly monsters, a la the Jim Henson creations for Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are. Elsewhere, dazzling stop-motion animation of rolling hills and crashing waters evokes the forms of childlike wonder and adventure, which – while albums like ‘The Haunted Man’ have in many ways matured beyond this – still linger as an undercurrent in Khan’s work.
