Filmmaker Sam Fleischner has a great eye for what we all want to see – 80s bike stunts and skeletons surfing at night.
I like Sam’s simple approach to video making. They have that great how-has-no-one-done-this-before quality. This combines with that crucial “actually really well-made” thing, exhibited on his video for Panda Bear, shot in grainy, yet perfectly lit monochrome.
Sam has made several award winning short films, music videos, installation videos, and commercials. His first narrative feature, Wah Do Dem won the Jury Prize at the 2009 LA film festival, and was released to critical acclaim in 2010, with Art Forum calling it “one of the best debuts of the 21st century.”
