You can stream Doldrums's debut album now

Grimes called it her favourite album of last year, and now you can hear for yourself why she loves it so much.

Doldrums is a 23-year-old artist from Montreal who crafts fantastical landscapes with his music, infusing it with huge-sounding, sci fi-leaning influences and always holding on to a Twilight Zone -ish degree of unease. Topped off with self-made mythology and an androgynous vocal presence, his music is practically a world of its own.

Last year, before the rest of the world had had chance to hear it, his friend Grimes declared his debut album ‘Lesser Evil’ as the best she’d heard all year. Now, you can hear for yourself why this peculiar gem of a record – at times eerie, at times majestic, at time ridiculous fun – earned that accolade.

Head to Pitchfork to stream ‘Lesser Evil’ now.

Souterrain Transmissions will release ‘Lesser Evil’ on the 26th February 2013.
