The rapper's new visual opus tells his story at its most unadulterated.
Last night, Stormzy officially unveiled his new short film at an event at London's YouTube Space and, a little later, made the video open to the public. Gang Signs & Prayer, taking the same name as his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, is a visual testament to Stormzy’s life and upbringing, chronicling his inner battles and temptations as he becomes the master of his own destiny. “Return of the Rucksack,” “Bad Boys” and “100 Bags,” taken from the album, serve as the soundtrack to the film.
The short film is directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker and music video director Rollo Jackson with support from YouTube, and is an immersive portrait of the artist that blends dramatic narrative and stunning live performances.
