Skepta will receive this year’s Outstanding Contribution award at AIM 2015

The grime pioneer will pick up his trophy at the ceremony taking place in September.

Skepta is to receive the Association of Independent Music’s ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award at the AIM Awards 2015.

The London-born grime artist will receive his trophy on 8th September at the ceremony taking place at The Brewery, Clerkenwell. Recognition of Skepta’s long-standing influence and pioneering status follows a breakthrough into the mainstream in 2015 and adds weight to his highly-anticipated upcoming album ‘Konnichiwa’. Speaking of Skepta’s recognition, AIM judge/BBC Radio 1’s MistaJam stated:

“Since Grime was born out of the ashes of UK Garage, Septa has been a pioneer of the sound, of the DIY business model and culture. DJ, producer, writer, MC, record label boss and performer – there’s no denying Skepta has put in the blood, sweat, and tears for the last 10 whole years and now, as he stands on the cusp of true international acclaim, if feels right to award Septa for his immense contribution so far to British Music.”

Unfortunately, tickets for the awards have long sold out, but afterparty tickets are available to purchase through The AIM Independent Music Awards website.
