Radiohead have (possibly) done the next Bond theme

Bookies suspend betting on who will record the next James Bond theme after somebody placed a £15,000 wager on Radiohead doing it.

Radiohead are (possibly? Probably?) doing the theme for the next James Bond theme.

Rumours originally suggested that Sam Smith was down to record the theme for Bond's 24th silver screen outing, Spectre, but those were quashed after he denied involvement. Next there was the very credible idea that Ellie Goulding might do it – the rumour mill went into overdrive after she tweeted the title of the 1973's Live and Let Die followed by an Instagram photo of her leaving Abbey Road Studios (where the theme is usually recorded) with the caption 'that's a wrap'.

Goulding was the bookies' choice until somebody put a £15,000 wager on Radiohead taking charge of the theme, resulting in bookmakers suspending all bets.

“The first gamble of the day was Ellie Goulding and punters were backing her as if she already had the gig, but just as we were thinking of pulling the plug we had a load of bets for Radiohead, including one customer who asked to place a £15,000 bet on the band at 10/1," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams, "There seem to be all kinds of rumours and the plot has had more twists and turns than a classic Bond tale, but surely nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch."

That would be some hunch, wouldn't it?
