Mogwai are set to release their long-awaited remix album

Experimental rock legends to release LP of re-works of SAY Award-nominated album.

Mogwai have been a stalwart of the Scottish music scene for nearly twenty years, having released some of the most beloved and daring experimental rock albums in recent memory and become known for the intensity of their live performances. Their seventh and most recent album, ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’, was met with enthusiastic reviews and was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year awards in May of this year.

In an interview with DazedDigital last year Mogwai originally promised a remix album of ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’ “before the year is out”, but plans were halted after the catastrophic SonyDADC warehouse fire in August 2011, where much of Mogwai’s own label Rock Action housed their stock. After such a terrible event, many small labels struggled to regain stock and finances, so it comes as a welcome surprise that this remix album has finally seen the light of day.

The resulting double LP, ‘A Wrenched Virile Lore’, will be released on the 23rd November and limited to 2,500 copies of grey and red marble vinyl, with only 400 copies available through the SubPop website. So if you’re keen to get your hands on the vinyl, pre-ordering is highly recommended.

‘A Wrenched Virile Lore’ will be available on CD/Digital on December 4th.
