Michael Kiwanuka tops BBC Sound of 2012 poll

North London singer-songwriting most tipped artist of 2012, according to industry panel.

Michael Kiwanuka, a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Muswell Hill in North London, is #1 in the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. Kiwanuka, who has supported Adele and was produced by Paul Butler of The Bees, is signed to Communion Records. He has an incredible voice, and we wish him the very best of luck.

Other finalists for the 2012 prize include Dummy favourites Frank Ocean, Azealia Banks, Spector and A$AP Rocky. Previous winners of poll, voted for by around 150 industry people, journalists and bloggers, include Little Boots, 50 Cent, Adele and Jessie J.
