MIA to Release New Single

The radical-chic singer pushes on without Diplo.

M.I.A. has had her share of scolding for 2010’s ‘///Y/’. Criticised for her political outbursts and even panned by one of the record’s producers, her ex-boyfriend Diplo, the LA-based artist famously lashed out at journalist Lynn Hirschberg for her unflattering portrait of the Sri-Lankan born, London-raised artist in the New York Times.

It seems Maya Arulpragasam isn’t finished making her point and she’ll be releasing a brand new single, aptly-titled ‘Bad Girls’, through Pitchfork next Monday. It’s produced by Danja (Timbaland, Madonna) and will be followed by a video courtesy of Romain Gavras, responsible for the equally controversial ‘Born Free’, though the track also appears on her Vicki Leekx mixtape. Look forward to more musical mud-slinging and brilliant digiArt.

Update: stream the single now at Pitchfork
