Listen to a new UK garage-inspired documentary by Boiler Room

The podcast chronicles the rise of the esteemed genre.

UK garage has seen a resurgence in 2017, reestablishing itself to fans old and new as one of the country's beloved musical creations. In its first audio documentary, Boiler Room has charted the rise, fall and rise again of UKG, 20 years after its inception on the council blocks and after parties of south London.

Presented by Rinse FM's Emerald Rose Lewis, UKG Reloaded comprehensively breaks garage down, with interviews from storied names in the game, tracing its evolution from lowkey Sunday night shindigs in the late 1990s to blockbuster chart success in the early 2000s.

There is a lot to unravel throughout the documentary's one hour duration, but the result is a levelled understanding of what made the scene tick, its major players and venues, and the ultimate success of a homegrown sound. And some classic garage tunes, of course.
