Kickstarter made you give $20 million to music start-ups

$20 million was donated through fascinating crowd-funding site KickStarter last year.

KickStarter, a website which lets people ask The Internet for money to fund projects, had a terrific 2011. The total monies spent was close to $100 million, with music accounting for $19,801,685.21. This is why the website was one of our favourite music businesses of the year.

Some notable music-related projects were the 300-year-old violin and the Indie Cred Test. Congrats to all involved, and for details of how to get involved, visit kickstarter.com
