Holly Herndon signs to 4AD for new album 'Platform'

The experimental musician's second album lands in May. Stream a new song, Interference, now.

Holly Herndon's second album, 'Platform', will be released via 4AD on May 18th.

Herndon is an experimental musician based in San Francisco. Originally born in Tennesse, she went on to study in Berlin where she became immersed in the city's techno scene, and is currently studying for a doctorate at Stanford's Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). Her last album, 2012's 'Movement', was released via RVNG Intl. and brought together her vocal processing techniques with techno rhythms.

'Platform' sees Herndon continue to explore the most adventurous ends of contemporary electronic and dance music, but introduces more pop songwriting structures. The album explores "systemic inequality, surveillance states, and neo-feudalism", according to a press release. 'Platform' contains Herndon's two most recent singles for RVNG Intl., Chorus and Home.

You can stream and watch a video for album opener Interference now. The video was directed by Metahaven, who we spoke to last year about their video for Home.
