Gilles Peterson is getting a new show on BBC 6 Music

The Worldwide DJ will now appear on 6 Music on Saturday afternoons, since leaving Radio 1 last year.

The Guardian is reporting today that Gilles Peterson will be presenting a brand new show on BBC 6 Music, following his departure from Radio 1 later this year.

The decision to end Peterson’s long-running Worldwide radio show last year came with the reformulation of Radio 1 instigated by its controller, Ben Cooper, who enlisted new acts like Skream & Benga and Toddla T for the station. The Brownswood boss will now host a show from 3pm – 6pm on Saturday afternoons for 6 Music, starting in April.

As we reported last month, 6 Music are having a great start to the year already, having amassed more listeners than ever before in 2011. The station will also celebrate its tenth anniversary tomorrow.
