Dummy will be returning to Miranda at Ace Hotel Shoreditch on September 25th to host a fresh-faced New York trio, Wet. Their standout single You're The Best is Americana country brought up to speed, making the stuff summer dreams are made of or the love song for a holiday romance cut short. Expect laid-back melodies with soothing vocals that give a feeling of country air rippling through your hair.
Support on the night comes from Planet Mu's Rudi Zygadlo. Gathering varied and unsuspecting influences that range from choral music to Frank Zappa and American author Thomas Pynchon, his two albums 'Great Western Layman' and 'Tragicomedies' have been thoroughly shaped by his desire for the off-kilter, resulting in a profile that merges dubstep influences with pop sensibilities to create a carefree and satisfying sound.
Seattle meets London duo Funktionslust will also be performing, unleashing their unique sound that weaves together elements of coldwave, post-punk and contemporary electronica. With a name that translates as 'taking pleasure in your craft', the pair are passionate in production and have unshackled themselves from the modern trait of using purely digital methods. Funktionlust's sound is emotional yet driven, a selection of shimmering electronic beats simmering along nicely with soft and hazy vocals.
Wet will play Ace Hotel's basement space Miranda on September 25th (RSVP).
