Django Django announce new album 'Born Under Saturn'

The Edinburgh-hailing band's second album promises to be bigger and bolder, reflecting their growth from modest bedroom band to sizeable international touring outfit.

Django Django release their new album 'Born Under Saturn' in May.

Having already teased the record with new song First Light – and its remix by Swamp 81 producer Mickey Pearce – this is the Edinburgh-hailing band's second album, following their self-titled debut in 2012.

Their debut was a serious success story, seeing the band grow from a modest bedroom psychedelic pop group to an internationally touring outfit playing to thousands of people on their tour dates. 'Born Under Saturn' reflects this growth.

"When we were writing the lyrics there were lots of references to rebirth, turning a new page and starting something again," says drummer and producer Dave Maclean in a press release, "I guess that’s something we all felt."

Since the release of their debut, the band have been scattered around undertaking various creative endeavours. Maclean went to Mali with Africa Express, while he and keyboardist Tommy Grace worked on a score for a Royal Shakespeare Company production. Jimmy Neff and Jim Dixon worked with artist Haroom Mirza at the Stromboli Arts Festival. The band also wrote a song for the film Slow West, which won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, and started the Kick & Clap label.

Recorded at their studio in East London's Netil House as well as Angelic Studios in Banbury, 'Born Under Saturn's songwriting was split four ways while Maclean handled production. Lyrics deal with subject matters like Faustian pacts (Found You), crime and betrayal (Shot Down), and writer's block (Beginning To Fade).

The band will tour throughtout summer, tickets for which go on sale from February 19th and can be bought here.
