Bon Iver refuse to perform at the Grammys, and perform on SNL

Iconic indie-folk group have turned down the opportunity to perform live at this year's Grammys, but gave a brilliant performance on SNL last night (watch inside).

Bon Iver caused controversy this week when they told Billboard.com on the 2nd February that they “kind of said ‘f**k you’ a little bit” when they were asked to perform at this year’s Grammys, despite being nominated for four awards.

The prestigious award ceremony, which will take place this year on the 12th February, apparently asked Bon Iver to perform music that was not their own in collaboration with other artists. “We wanted to play our music, but were told that we couldn’t play,” Vernon told Billboard, adding, “we just felt like it was such a large stage — we’re getting nominated for this record that we made…and all of a sudden we were being asked to play music that had nothing to do with that.”

Meanwhile, the group put in a breathtaking performance of the song ‘Holocene’, the second single from the 2011 record Bon Iver, Bon Iver , on Saturday Night Live last night. Somewhere, the producers of the Grammys must have been weeping in the glow of their TV sets. Stream the performance below.
