BBC Sound of 2015 longlist revealed

Novelist, Raury, Kwabs, Shura and more feature in this year's longlist of artists set to break through next year.

The BBC's annual Sound poll has revealed their longlist for 2015.

Every year the BBC surveys a tonne of 'tastemakers' – influential people in the music 'biz' such as industry players, DJs, radio hosts, and, of course, the lowly music journalist – to compile a longlist of acts set to 'make it' the next year. This year, 139 people contributed to the voting process, including Dummy.

Every voting member was requested to submit three new acts who've yet to make a splash in the charts for inclusion. Previous winners include big names like Sam Smith, Adele, Keane, Jessie J, and so on.

There are two new London grime MCs – Novelist and Stormzy – in the list. They sit next to names like big-voiced soul singer Kwabs, poet/rapper George the Poet, Atlanta artist Raury, and other bloggy names like Rae Morris, Shura, and new XL Recordings signees Shamir and Låpsley.

Peep the full list of nominees below. The shortlist of the final top five will be revealed from every day from Monday January 5th, with the winner set to be announced on Huw Stephens' show on BBC Radio 1 on Friday January 9th.
