Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake – :( album updates

Drake's Aaliyah project has not been blessed by the fallen star's estate or Timbaland, and JT's publicist has poured a bucket of cold water on those new record rumours.

Sad news for those who wish to cuddle up and pretend that the majority of the last decade didn’t happen and Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake were still making music and releasing music: two new album projects reported earlier this week are looking uncertain.

Aaliyah’s family have curtly stated that Noah – “40” – Shabib and Drake’s plan to release an album of her unreleased music was not done with their permission, as The Guardian report. Timbaland has subtly suggested he and Missy Elliott – two of the great R&B singer’s closest collaborators and friends – should really have been asked, stating: “I don’t know what’s going on,” to Power 105. “The proper way to do [a collaboration] would be for me, [Drake] and Missy to be all on the record.” Drake has since contacted Timbo, and the project will now be going ahead with two tracks produced by Tim, the rest by 40.

Justin Timberlake, meanwhile, is probably not making a new record, despite what we over-excitedly reported. His spokesperson deaded those rumours in that fabulously curt fashion native to American publicists: when asked if there were any more music plans after his contribution to Timberlake’s ‘Shock Value 3’, they stated “That’s it”.

So that’s that.
