Rammellzee 1960-2010 Sad news – the Graffiti writer and Early Hip Hop artist Rammellzee (aka RAMMΣLLZΣΣ aka RAMM:ELL:ZEE) passed away last night.

Rammellzee – a graffiti writer, sculptor and musician – was born in 1960 in Queens and was instrumental in Hip Hop’s early years, as well as the Afrofuturist school. He was a part of the Death Comet Crew, whose releases were collected by Mike Simonetti’s Troubleman Unlimited in 2003, and his most famous track, Beat Bop, below, was featured on the seminal Rap film Wild Style.
