Pop duo Cherryade give a middle finger to the world in their new visual.
Cherryade are fun, flirty, fierce and not afraid to say what they think in their rebellious, playful style. The duo are longtime friends and have gone from creating demos on their iPhones to working with Charli XCX's Vroom Vroom on something as yet unannounced. Their philosophy is fiercely DIY, and previous videos have created a weird and wonderful throwback to those 90’s R&B sci-fi videos that we all loved - think Missy Elliot's 'Sock It To Me'. Today, we are premiering their newest visual for the track 'Blah Blah'.
The song is their middle finger to a world where style rules over substance and people talk the talk but can't walk the walk, and the visual is weird and wonderful in equal measure. Talking to Dummy about the new single, Cherryade said: "We wrote this song about people getting distracted with material things and focusing on style over substance. We love pop music but so many artists we love don’t really say anything, so it's partially addressing that as well, but at the same time it's also really tongue-in-cheek and fun. This is our most expensive video yet - we spent nearly £50 on foil. We were inspired by early 2000’s sci-fi R&B videos like Aaliyah & Janet Jackson, and we're both going to have to work extra hard to pay back our debt. It was worth every penny though!”
