Montreal artist Mike Silver, aka CFCF, releases his new LP 'Outside' next week - his first full-length since 2009's 'Continent' - and we're chuffed to be able to bring you the exclusive stream this afternoon.
Composed largely on trains and buses between his home in Montreal and New York and Toronto, the album features guest vocals from Sleep ∞ Over’s Stefanie Franciotti, Active Child (aka Pat Grossi) and Johan Tuvesson, with Franciotti voicing a warm, glimmering cover of Bonnie Prince Billy's Strange Form Of Life and Grossi lending his voice to the soaring groove of Jump Out Of The Train. The latter track has already been shared, along with the rich synth tapestry of Beyond Light, but following them closely in the full stream are tracks as wide-reaching as the gloriously smooth pop of This Breath - like a laid-back 80s schmoozefest overlaid with gauzy gospel-like samples - and the airy, new age brushstrokes of pan flutes and chimes on Transcend.
All in all this is an album that captures the environment of its making, bustling ever forwards like the modes of transport Silver found himself on, longing for familiarity and feeling nostalgic as you often do when in transit, and capturing sidelong glimpses of a whole world of sounds. Get carried away below.
Paper Bag/Dummy Records will release 'Outside' digitally on the 21st October and physically on the 18th November 2013. Pre-order it physically here or digitally here.
