Premiere: Bell Curve - Heaven and Hell

Bell Curve is the reincarnation of New Yorker Isabel Munson, who draws on halftime jungle, grime, and dancehall to artfully dance around easy readings or genre classifications, instead pushing the grooves outside their comfort zone. Munson is getting ready to release her latest project, 'Fucked Up If True' – the debut release on the New York-based Sweat Equity label – and we are premiering a track from the project, 'Heaven and Hell.'

The track is a lesson in meditative, precise attention to detail, allowing long percussive patterns to weave and twist around each other, weaving a dense tapestry of syncopations and grooves that serve as a restless counterpoint to the swells and swirls of bass fleshing it out. It’s a slab of patient sonic sculpting, mixing together lush synth work with razors edgerhythmic elements that take a psychedelic spin on easy genre readings or familiar signifiers.
