Oneohtrix Point Never - Stone of Spiritual Understanding

Daniel Oneohtrix Point Never’ Lopatin’s forthcoming split LP with US noise artist Rene Hell will drop next week via Burlington label NNA Tapes. On OPN’s side is ‘Music For Reliquary House’, a reconstituted audio drawn from his Reliquary House installation that he collaborated with visual artist Nate Boyce to envision the modernist sculptures of David Smith, Anthony Caro, Isamu Noguchi, and Tony Smith as a series of hallucinatory informatic assaults. It was originally performed at New York’s MoMA on 17th December, 2011. All five tracks are segments of a larger piece, consisting of satirical and informatic soundscape that provides background on the sculptor. Expect something sonically similar to Dummy’s favourite ‘Replica’ from 2011.

On the project, Lopatin commented, “For the purpose of this recording I stripped out the narrative sections, tweaked the mixes and added new instrumentation. The musical sections were created using a combination of virtual and hardware synthesizers and romplers, as well as processed text-to-speech recordings. This record does not contain any outsourced samples.”
