New Music: Coco - UP!

Coco is an authority when it comes to grime outside of London. The Sheffield native has built up a cult following over the past year, with anthems including 'Big N Serious' and the Scrufizzer-assisted 'Ingredients' and is a part of wave of rappers outside of the capital that are breaking regional barriers. He now releases his new single with frequent collaborator Toddla T, 'UP!'

Twisting Caribbean flavours and traditional sounds around grime flows and electronic beats, Coco splashes on generous servings of his own seasoning to ensure 'UP!' has its own unique identity that has become synonymous with him. With steel pans thundering and tripping like they’re on acid, warped bass and the clanging of high-octane drums, courtesy of culture mixing masters Jus Now and Toddla T’s unmistakable production, Coco drops a scattergun flow, name checking everything that’s cherished about the UK’s treasured Notting Hill Carnival, which hits the streets of West London's Notting Hill every August bank holiday. From jerk chicken to rampage soundsystems, 'UP!' will have you ready to whine and take to the streets in colourful abandon come the last weekend of August.
