There's love in every detail as Magda and NYMA reconstruct a track from notable '80s synth pop outfit, YELLO.
Define The Relationship is a project recently initiated by Polish born and Detroit raised minimal house queen Madga and Tehran native NYMA. Their aim is to reshape, reintroduce and revive early influences as a homage to the past, present and future with all tracks written and produced by the original artists and reworked under the DTR name. We touched on the project briefly back in May, when Madga shared her 10 best minimal house tracks with us.
After reworking jams from the likes of LL Cool J (!!) and Chaka Khan, the pair return with 'DTR005' which features a selection of reconstructed edits of tracks from notable '80s synth pop outfit YELLO. Magda and NYMA hand-picked four tracks from the band's first four albums, proceeding to strip them down and reconstruct into their own versions -adding only slight and subtle elements to ensure they maintained the group's original, influential grooves. We were lucky to get our hands on the first stream of their rework of Vicious Games, which is a dusky pop number transcended into an energetic yet luscious reconstruction by Magda and NYMA. To make things even more peachy, the track is available as a free download. 'Tis the season of giving, after all...
In Magda's own words: "This band has been a huge influence on me throughout the years. Their productions are rich and cross multiple genres to still sound as fresh today as they did back then." NYMA adds, "To me YELLO's music and productions are like paintings. Full of surprises and depth, unbelievable sound palettes with love in every detail. Fascinating, inspiring and timeless.”
