Listen to Leyland Kirby's new album in its full glory.
Romantic, sentimental, faintly melancholy – these are the words that remind me of Leyland Kirby, who is best known as V/Vm and The Caretaker. The prolific producer has dropped a new release, titled ‘Eager to Tear Apart the Stars’, which is also his fifth release in 2011.
The Stockport ambient/experimental/ballroom producer has quoted French poet Charles Baudelaire on his own label History Always Favours The Winners’s site, in explaining the concept of the record: “We are weighed down, every moment, by the conception and the sensation of Time. And there are but two means of escaping and forgetting this nightmare : pleasure and work. Pleasure consumes us. Work strengthens us. Let us choose.”
