Another Jessie Ware remix? Go on then. Canada-via-Switzerland producer Cyril Hahn turns in a simple but effective house rework of 'Sweet Talk'.
Does a day go by without a new Jessie Ware remix dropping? She might be one of the most remixed artists around at this moment in time, but the quality of these remixes tends to vary. Sometimes you’ll get jaw-dropping reworks like Disclosure’s take on Running, but at other times a usually-reliable artist will return a lukewarm remix, such as Star Slinger’s version of Wildest Moments, where the incompatibility between Ware’s vocal and the remixer’s instrumentation becomes far too distracting.
Canada-via-Switzerland producer Cyril Hahn keeps things simple on his housey remix of Sweet Talk. Swapping the original song’s downtempo R&B for a solid 4/4 thump, Hahn keeps Ware’s original vocal fully intact but sprinkles subtle layers of echo on top of it, making the transformation feel natural. It’s not necessarily earth-shattering – one suspects that it isn’t really meant to be – but it is undeniably effective.
