Jerome LOL - Dawn/Dusk

LOL Boys may have called it quits recently, but that’s not to say it’s the last we’ve heard of them. Dawn / Dusk is the new opus from Jerome LOL, two separate tracks that have been presented as one wonderfully complete whole, continuing a dualities trend that can be evidenced on his Soundcloud page.

Dawn is a downtempo shuffle, its tempo and swing almost a mutant version of moombahton, and it melds the rigid mechanics of house with the loose organics of field recordings and pianos which don’t sound like a KORG M1 preset. But it really comes into its own when day turns to night – Dusk is an absolute explosion, a muted piano house line that sounds both euphoric and bleak at the same time, an acid bassline contributing to its extended outro.
